Call for Applications: DAAD-SEARCA In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme (Academic Year 2026-2027)

The SEAMEO Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are pleased to announce the scholarship call for the 2026-2027 intake.
This program aims to strengthen the internal capacity of higher education institutions in Southeast Asia by supporting staff and future researchers in fields related to sustainable agricultural transformation.
Research Focus
Proposed thesis research must focus on: “Sustainable Transformation of Agricultural Systems through Innovation in Southeast Asia (SUSTAIN Southeast Asia).”
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Citizens of SEAMEO member countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Timor-Leste, Thailand, or Vietnam).
- Employment: Must be a staff member of a public university, a candidate for future teaching/research recruitment, or a public sector employee.
- Age Limit: Not more than 40 years old (Master’s) or 45 years old (PhD) at the time of application.
- English Proficiency: Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.
- Academic History: Last university degree completed not more than 6 years ago.

Special Requirements for PhD Candidates
PhD applicants must submit the following additional documents:
- Declaration of Acceptance from an academic supervisor or a commitment letter from the intended study post.
- Detailed PhD Proposal (8-10 pages) including a precise timetable (Concept notes are NOT accepted).
- One-page Abstract of the proposal including the applicant’s name and proposal title.
