MU Celebrates “Youthful Vitality: The Spirit of the Galloping Year”

On February 9, 2026, Chiang Mai University, in collaboration with the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Chiang Mai, hosted the spectacular “Youthful Vitality: The Spirit of the Galloping Year” at the scenic Ang Kaew Pavilion. The event was officially opened by Mr. Chen Haiping, Consul-General of the P.R. China, and Prof. Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, M.D., Ph.D., President of CMU. This festive gathering brought together Chinese students from all levels, university executives, and faculty members to celebrate the “Year of the Horse” and strengthen the long-standing educational and cultural bonds between Thailand and China.
The celebration featured a thoughtfully curated blend of traditional culture and modern student experiences. Students joyfully explored 10 immersive workshop booths, including Chinese Calligraphy, Ancient Arrow-Throwing, and a hugely popular Chinese Costume booth for that perfect social media shot. Foodies were treated to authentic home-cooked dumplings and sweet rice balls, while the ice cream station kept everyone refreshed with complimentary treats. The stage remained electric throughout the night with over 15 dynamic performances by both Chinese and Thai students, curated by CMU International Program students, showcasing their incredible creativity and leadership.
The atmosphere at Ang Kaew Pavilion was filled with warmth, laughter, and the vibrant energy of youth. It was more than just a festival; it was a “home away from home” where international students could showcase their talents and life skills on a global stage. As the sun set over the pavilion, the “Spirit of the Galloping Year” truly came to life, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories and a renewed sense of unity. This successful collaboration highlights CMU’s commitment to a multicultural campus where every student can shine and grow together.it of the Galloping Year”
