Chiang Mai University Organizes International Student Orientation 2025

Chiang Mai University (CMU) hosted the International Student Orientation 2025 on Saturday, 14 June 2025, to officially welcome newly admitted international students and support their transition into academic and campus life.
Held in a hybrid format, the orientation took place onsite at the Information Technology and Service Center (ITSC), with first-year students in attendance, while senior international students joined the event online via Zoom. The program was designed to provide essential guidance, resources, and a supportive environment to ensure a smooth start to students’ academic journey at CMU.
The orientation opened with a welcome message from Professor Pongruk Sribanditmongkol, M.D., Ph.D., President of Chiang Mai University. This was followed by a presentation by Associate Professor Pradthana Jaipong, Ph.D., Assistant to the President, who introduced Chiang Mai University and its support services for international students. Assistant Professor Chirawath Phatsara, Ph.D., Assistant to the President, also presented “Life in CMU,” offering key information on campus facilities, student activities, university policies, and available resources to support both academic and personal development.
This year, CMU welcomed nearly 250 international students from a diverse array of countries, including China, Myanmar, Israel, Nepal, Australia, the Philippines, the United States, France, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, and Belgium. The rich diversity of this cohort reflects CMU’s ongoing commitment to internationalization and its role in fostering a vibrant, multicultural academic environment.
Participants were introduced to a wide range of topics, including CMU’s academic systems, student support services, Thai cultural practices, visa and immigration procedures, and extracurricular opportunities. In addition to informative presentations, the program featured panel discussions with senior international students who shared their experiences and offered practical advice. Ice-breaking activities were also conducted to encourage interaction and build a sense of community among the new students.
