On March 30th 1993, the Ministry of University Affairs announced its formal approval for the establishment of the Foreign Relations Division, later to become the present-day International Relations Division, as a new division within the Office of the President at Chiang Mai University.
Since March 7th 2008, under Chiang Mai University Act. B.E. 2551(2008), CMU’s status has changed from a government organization under Office of the higher Education commission to be an autonomous university under the government supervision. As a result, there were some changes in management structure of the university’s organizations. The Office of the President was changed to be “The Office of the University” and International Relations Division is the division within this office.
