The Global Internship Fellowship (IITGN-GIF) Programme is an international research internship designed for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on research experience within a diverse, interdisciplinary academic environment.
Participants conduct research under the mentorship of faculty members across Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), India.
✨ Benefits
- Receive INR 3,000 per week to support on-campus living expenses.
- An additional INR 2,000 per week may be provided at the faculty mentor’s discretion, subject to available research funding.
- Fellows who satisfactorily complete the programme receive a Certificate of Completion issued by IIT Gandhinagar.
- On-campus hostel/dormitory accommodation is available. (Charges apply)
🗓️ Program Period
- Typically 6 to 10 weeks
(Depending on your project scope and faculty mentor’s recommendation)
👨🏻🎓 Eligibility
- Be a non-Indian citizen.
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a recognised university located outside India.
- Obtain a nomination from their home university/institution prior to applying for the programme.
📝 Required Documents
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
– Outlining their research interests
– Objectives for participating in the programme
– Research goals
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Academic Transcript.
- Recommendation/Nomination Letter from home university/institution.
(Clearly stating that the institution has no objection to the applicant’s participation)
- Recommendation letter from an IIT Gandhinagar faculty supervisor, (if available)

Share your SOP, transcripts, and faculty recommendation and finalise your application.
3. Begin
Arrive on campus, dive into research, and earn your certificate at completion.

The fellowship accepts applications in three (3) cycles throughout the year.
