Call for Applications: 2025 Fulbright Thai Visiting Scholar Program (TVS)

The Thailand – United States Educational Foundation (Fulbright Thailand) announces its annual competition
for the Fulbright awards under the Thai Visiting Scholar Program (TVS). The program offers up to three (3)
grants to senior Thai national scholars in Thai universities/research institutions to lecture, pursue research or
undertake special academic-related projects in the United States during the 2025 academic year for a period of
3 – 6 months. The grant period must not start before September 1, 2025, and no later than mid-February 2026.
The award includes 1) round-trip international air tickets, 2) monthly stipends, 3) professional allowance, 4)
settling-in allowance, 5) excess baggage reimbursement, and 6) in-kind benefits such as ASPE health insurance,
J-1 visa fee exemption, and other enrichment activities in Thailand and the U.S. An additional allowance is given
for qualifying dependents who accompany the scholar for at least 80 percent of the grant period. Eligible
dependents include the legal spouse and children age under 21 years old.
ELIGIBILITY:
At the time of application, an applicant must:
1. Be a Thai citizen in good health, age not exceeding 58 at the time of application deadline; (individuals
holding U.S. immigrant visas or permanent U.S. resident cards (green cards) or dual citizenships (Thai
and U.S.) are not eligible to apply);
2. Be physically present in Thailand at the time of the interview;
3. Have a doctorate degree in the academic background with strong knowledge of English;
4. Be currently working as a lecturer or researcher in any accredited Thai university/research institution
with at least 10 years (120 months at the time of submission deadline) of lecturing/research experience at
the university/research institution level (excluding the period of study);
5. Obtain an official letter of invitation from a U.S. host institution;
6. Be able to take leave from their home institution or professional organization;
7. Preferably not have extensive experience in the United States during the previous 3 years and not obtained
a U.S. J-1 Visa in the past 2 years (24 months at the submission deadline).
8. Be able to fully participate in every activity organized by Fulbright Thailand, including the Preliminary
Orientation and Pre-departure Orientation Program, which will be held in January and June 2025,
respectively;
9. Be willing and able to serve as a resource person and a cultural ambassador in the United States, e.g., as a
lecturer, seminar participant, consultant, or in other capacities requested by the host institution or
community; and;
10. Be prepared to lecture and participate in academic activities related to the program undertaken upon
return to Thailand.
11. Candidates may not have held a Fulbright grant for lecturing or research in the U.S. within the past 5 years;
12. Those who work for the U.S. Embassy and related agencies, please consult Fulbright Thailand before
applying.
APPLICATION:
Applicants must complete and submit an online application within a deadline with the following required
documentsin the English language and PDF format:
1. Research proposal in any field except the clinical practices (not exceeding 5 pages typed, font no. 10-12
Ariel or Tahoma, preferably)
2. Biographic essay (not exceeding 2 pages typed, font no. 10-12 Ariel or Tahoma, preferably)
3. Resume/CV
4. Copy of a valid passport or national identification card
5. Copy of Transcripts: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral.
6. Official letter of invitation from the host institution with a specific period of research*
7. 3 letters of recommendation (submitted online by recommenders once applicants fill in recommenders’
names and contact information on the online application)
