Chiang Mai University Hosted International Student Orientation 2026
Chiang Mai University (CMU) organized the International Student Orientation 2026 on 19 June 2026 to officially welcome newly enrolled international students and help them transition smoothly into academic and campus life.
The orientation was held at the Information Technology Service Center (ITSC), bringing together first-year international students on-site, while senior international students participated virtually via Zoom. The event aimed to provide essential information, support services, and opportunities for students to build connections as they begin their studies at CMU.
The program commenced with a welcome address and university introduction by Asst. Prof. Worakanya Buranaphatthana, D.D.S., Ph.D. Assistant to the President. Her presentation covered key aspects of university life, including campus facilities, visa-related guidance, and services available through the International Student Service Center (ISSC).
This year’s orientation welcomed approximately 200 international students representing a wide range of countries, including Canada, China, France, India, Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Switzerland, the United States, and Vietnam. The diverse student body reflects CMU’s continued commitment to internationalization and its dedication to fostering a dynamic multicultural learning environment.
Throughout the event, participants received information on academic regulations, student support services, Thai culture and customs, immigration procedures, extracurricular activities, and opportunities for student engagement. Students were also introduced to the International Student Club (ISC), which provides community space for international students to connect, collaborate, and participate in campus activities. Interactive ice-breaking sessions further encouraged friendship-building and community engagement among the new students.
Chiang Mai University remains committed to supporting the academic achievement and well-being of its international student community. Through inclusive services, cross-cultural initiatives, and global engagement opportunities, the university strives to ensure that all international students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered throughout their academic journey.
