The International Relations Division was officially approved as a division on March 30, 1993, under the Office of the President at Chiang Mai University. In 2008, Chiang Mai University transitioned from being under the Office of the Higher Education Commission to become an autonomous university under government supervision. Consequently, the administrative structure was reorganized, and the name “Office of the President” was changed to “Office of the University.” Since then, the International Relations Division has operated under the Office of the University.
In 2024, an organizational restructuring was implemented, in which the International Relations Division was upgraded and renamed the International Relations Administration Center, in accordance with the Chiang Mai University Council Resolution No. 9/2023 on September 23, 2023. This restructuring aims to align with the University’s internationalization strategy and to ensure an efficient response to ongoing global developments.
