On March 30th 1993, the Ministry of University Affairs announced its formal approval for the establishment of the Foreign Relations Division,
later to become the present-day International Relations Division, as a new division within the Office of the President at Chiang Mai University.
The International Relations Division - IRD is responsible for driving Chiang Mai University's internationalization strategy towards its vision. "A Leading University Committed to Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development”
We are the main unit that acts as CMU Gateway and International Hub for Academic, Research and Services Collaboration. IRD roles including a Match Maker between international institutes and Chiang Mai University’s faculties and departments, a Facilitator who creates academic cooperation networks, a motivator who promotes cooperation in different dimensions, a Global Visibility Promoter who support and promote Chiang Mai University to the world stage, and Academic Initiator who initiate and seek concrete academic cooperation in accordance with the University’s Internationalization Development Plan.
